My work explores the connection between memory, identity, and time, often through the lens of nostalgia. I use my own past and present experiences to create work that invites reflection and emotional connection. A big part of my practice is focusing on Black voices, especially the everyday experiences that shape who we are. I want to highlight joy, love, and the small moments that often get overlooked, since so much of what we see in the mainstream tends to focus only on struggle. For me, those quiet, ordinary moments are just as powerful, and they deserve to be seen and celebrated. By centering these experiences, I strive to tell fuller, more nuanced stories of Black life—ones that hold space for both challenge and beauty. My art is about preserving these memories and sharing them in ways that feel personal and real.
