Research
Grace Nelson is an MA student studying Latin American Art History and the use of abstraction to subvert dictatorship. This research began while they were at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota, triple majoring in Art History, International Studies, and Latin American Studies. What began as a virtual exhibition on Raquel Forner has grown into years of research on Argentina in the second half of the 20th century and a passion for decoding the use of abstraction by postcolonial subjects. He hopes to continue researching the influence of global and local politics on the art of Latin America throughout her time at University of Illinois and beyond.
